IPPS-A & records
Check and fix your retirement points
You confirm each year counts as a good year and get missing points added.
Walkthrough video in production
Real screen, real clicks, fake Soldier. Until it is up, the written steps below are the walkthrough.
- Script
- Voice
- Real-screen capture
- Published
Filmed on the live system with a CAC, every name and number swapped for a test Soldier before recording.
Step by step
- 01
Open your points summary
Log in to IPPS-A with myAuth and open your retirement points summary.
- 02
Compare it to your records
Check each Battle Assembly, AT order, DA 1380 and course against the summary.
Look hard at years that crossed the 2022 to 2023 switch to IPPS-A. Some drill attendance was never recorded.
- 03
Know the goal
You need 50 points in your anniversary year for it to count as a good (qualifying) year.
- 04
Submit a PAR to fix it
Point fixes, DA 5016 corrections and DA 1380s go in as an IPPS-A PAR. Attach the source documents.
- 05
Track it
Watch the PAR's approval steps. If it comes back, fix what they asked and send it again.
- 06
Get your official DA 5016
Once it is fixed, download the official DA 5016 from iPERMS.
- 07
Online courses can count
Approved online (EBDL) courses can earn points. 8 hours of coursework equals 1 point.
Why it gets kicked back
- ! Points are not on your LES.
- ! A returned PAR may need a memo for record when you send it again.
- ! Your 20-year letter does not start retirement pay.
