Check if you qualify
You must be in the Selected Reserve, not on active orders over 30 days, not on TAMP, and not eligible for the federal employee health plan (FEHB). IRR members do not qualify.

Check DEERS
Family members must be correct in DEERS. Fix them at a RAPIDS office, not in IPPS-A.

Look up premiums
Check the current monthly premiums on tricare.mil before you sign up.

Enroll yourself first
Follow the enrollment steps on the TRS page of tricare.mil. The sponsor must enroll before family members can.

Set up myAuth
TRICARE sites are moving from DS Logon to myAuth by the end of FY2026. Set up myAuth so you can log in.

Plan dental separately
TRS does not cover dental. Dental is the separate TRICARE Dental Program.

Do not drop it lightly
If you disenroll, you cannot enroll again for 12 months.

! Going on active orders over 30 days changes which coverage you have.
! TRS can start the day after TAMP coverage ends, if you qualify.
! TAMP rules for Reservists changed in August 2026. If you had orders of 30 or more days since 2020, ask your unit admin if you might be owed money.
