Use your travel card (GTCC) without going delinquent
Your government travel card works on the trip and gets paid on time through split disbursement.

Step by step
- 01
Check the card before you travel
If you have not used your card in a while, call your Agency Program Coordinator (APC) at least 2 weeks before travel. Ask if the card is active and if the limit covers your trip.
Cards that sit unused for a long time can be turned off or have a low limit.
- 02
Update the card in DTS
Card info in your DTS profile is updated separately. Make sure your current card is listed.
- 03
Know what goes on the card
Use the card for official travel on your orders. For drill (IDT) travel, our command's rule is: you must hold a card, use it only for airfare booked in DTS, never use the unit's centrally billed account (CBA), and pay everything else with a personal card. If you buy your own ticket, keep an itemized receipt and attach a Constructed Travel Worksheet that compares it to the GSA City Pair fare.
Hotel, rental car and gas for drill travel go on your personal card, not the GTCC.
- 04
Pick split disbursement
On your voucher, send card charges straight to the card company. Split disbursement is required for card charges.
- 05
File your voucher fast
File within 5 working days after the trip ends. A late or returned voucher means the bill comes before your pay.
- 06
On long orders, file every 30 days
Reserve members on duty more than 45 days should file a voucher every 30 days to keep the card current.
- 07
Watch the bill
The account is past due 31 days after the billing date and delinquent at 61 days. Pay any part that DTS did not cover.
Why it gets kicked back
- ! Card turned off from not being used.
- ! No split disbursement, so the money went to you and the card went unpaid.
- ! A kicked-back voucher delays payment and can push the card into delinquency.
- ! Army Reserve card limits are not posted publicly. Ask your APC.
