File a DTS voucher that does not get kicked back
You turn your approved authorization into a voucher with the right receipts, so you get paid.

Step by step
- 01
Open your approved authorization
Log in, pick your Reserve profile, and find the trip. Click 'Create Voucher' next to the approved authorization.
- 02
Change it to what really happened
DTS copies your plan from the authorization. Change dates, costs and lodging so they match what you actually spent.
Change the lodging entry to match your hotel receipt. A mismatch is a common kickback.
- 03
Check every expense line
Make sure each cost has the right type and amount. Put airfare and its taxes on separate lines. If you bought your own ticket, attach a Constructed Travel Worksheet that compares it to the GSA City Pair fare.
- 04
Upload your orders
Attach your signed orders.
Missing orders is the top reason a voucher sits in 'pending'.
- 05
Upload your receipts
Upload your airline receipt and an itemized hotel receipt that shows a zero balance. Add every other receipt you have.
A hotel bill that still shows money owed will get the voucher returned.
- 06
Set split disbursement
If you used your government travel card, send the card charges straight to the card company. Split disbursement is required for card charges.
- 07
Check the line of accounting
If DTS says there are no funds, ask your DTA or S-3 about a new line of accounting. Funds often move at the fiscal year change.
- 08
Sign within 5 working days
Sign the voucher and confirm your approver. File it within 5 working days after the trip ends. If you are past that, ask S-1 before you file. Your unit S-1 has the battalion's current memo on late claims.
- 09
Track your payment
Watch the status in DTS. Payment often lands about 2 to 3 weeks after a clean voucher is approved.
Why it gets kicked back
- ! No signed orders uploaded.
- ! Missing airline receipt, or a hotel receipt that is not itemized.
- ! Lodging entry does not match the hotel receipt.
- ! Old line of accounting near the fiscal year change causes 'no funds'.
- ! Different reviewers may want different formats. Ask the person who returned it exactly what to fix, and fix all of it at once.
