Step by step

  1. 01

Check your unit and routing list

Log in, pick your Reserve profile, and look at your organization and routing list. If it shows your old unit, your trips will go to the old approver.

  2. 02

    Close out old documents

Finish any open vouchers at your old unit. DTS will not let a unit release you while you have open documents or unpaid travel debt.

One forgotten voucher can keep you stuck at the old unit.

  3. 03

Ask the old unit to release you

Only a DTA can release your profile. Ask your old unit's admin to have their DTA release you.

  4. 04

Ask the new unit to pick you up

Your new DTA adds you to the new organization. You get that organization's default routing list unless the DTA changes it.

Ask the DTA to confirm who your approving official is.

  5. 05

    Check both profiles

If you have two profiles, such as Reserve and civilian, make sure only the Reserve one moved. The two must sit in different organizations.

  6. 06

    Test before your next trip

Start a draft authorization and check that the routing shows your new approver.

Why it gets kicked back

  • ! An open voucher at the old unit blocks the move.
  • ! The new unit's default routing list may not be the right approver for you.
  • ! A 'document lock' on one trip is different. It clears after the person who locked it is inactive for 30 minutes.
  • ! Travel card info in your profile is updated separately.
